The human characters (save for Charlie Swan) tend to be overlooked in this series in the sense that we aren't as emptionally vested in the human characters as we are in the vampire or shapeshifter characters. Oddly, the human Native American characters seem to defy that - possibly because they all have a life story that Stephenie Meyer elaborated upon, and those stories draw us in. Whether it be Emily and her tragic accident with Sam and their imprinted relationship, or Sue Clearwater developing a relationship with Charlie Swan in Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer gives us a glimpse of their life that tickles our curiosity. Even the rarely mentioned Kim has a story we can relate to - how many of us (who are girls/women) had a crush in school and wrote out our names followed by the surname of our crushes? Just to see what what our names would sound like if we married our crush?

In addition, these characters are extremely well-written, and Stephenie Meyer has successfully portrayed the everyday banter between these characters, capturing the essence of today's Native American family dynamics.

This section of this website is dedicated to these wonderful human Native characters.
